Privacy Policy

CapyDuo · last updated 4 August 2026

CapyDuo is a shared virtual pet for two people. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and who else sees it. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected].

What we collect

What we do not collect

Advertising

CapyDuo shows a small number of ads from Google AdMob: at most one when you open the app on a given day, plus optional rewarded videos you choose to watch. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and coarse location (derived from your IP address) to select ads. On iOS we ask permission first through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, ads still work but are less relevant. You can reset or limit your advertising id in your device settings at any time.

Subscribing to Supporter removes ads for both people in your pair.

Who else sees your data

Nobody else. We have no analytics vendor and no advertising partners beyond AdMob.

Where it lives

On our own server in the United States, in a single database with continuous encrypted backups. Access is restricted to the operator. Data is retained while your account exists.

Ending a pair, and deleting your account

You can leave a pair at any time from Settings. When a pair ends, its shared history stops being visible to both people.

To delete your account and everything associated with it, use Settings → Delete account, or email [email protected]. Deletion removes your user record, your pair membership, your notes, your push tokens, and your pet history. It completes within 30 days and cannot be undone.

Children

CapyDuo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change in the app before it takes effect.
